How to print true size on smaller paper?

  • Follow

Dear friends

The PDF document is A3 (420 mm wide, 297 mm high)

If I print it, I can select "Shrink to paper size". The document is then
printed on A4 (297 wide, 210 high) and the text is too small to be
readable.

If I do not select "Shrink to paper size", it prints the upper left
corner of a page only. That's a bit silly.

I want to print it on two A4 sheets (each 210x297, and 420x297 when the
sheets are side by side.

How is this done?

I upgraded to Acrobat Reader 10, which has the option "Tile large
pages". Sounds great! However, using this option it prints an horizontal
A3 on four horizontal A4 sheets, and I want two vertical A4 sheets.

I tried everything, but normal things appear impossible.

You also need a printer that can print in borderless mode, so that the
sheets can be butt-joined (edge-to-edge).

Well "want". You can always trim manually.

I found the solution!

Use Acrobat Reader X

Select: Page scaling: tile all pages.

This probably results in the single page tiled over four sheets. This is
not what we want, since two sheets would be sufficient.
Now decrease the Tile Scale. It should not be 100% but 94%. Try the
biggest value which gives the desired result.

Thanks for all your help.
