Printing a pdf without Acrobat

  • Follow

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possibile to send a pdf document directly to
the printer without using Acrobat and without opening the document itself.

Thanks

With some PostScript 3 printers/controllers it works, but not all. Also, a
lot of office printers don't support PostScript (and also not PDF), but PCL
or other languages.

What printer do you want to use?

Hi Luke,

Yes, but you will need some other 3rd party software. If you have a high
volume or batch requirement, my OctoTools may do the job, but you'd want to
take advantage of its additional capabilities to justify the cost.

Any printer!

I'm looking for a program that reads the pdf document and send it to the
default printer. All that should be transparent for the user.

In that case you are definitely going to need something that will read and
interpret PDF. Acrobat Reader is reasonably ubiquitous, ghostscript is also
free and supports a range of printers.
