What is SKIP-MC-GIKREQ? Is it a security hazard?
My WinXP PC just popped up this warning from Sygate Personal Firewall:
Adobe Acrobat 6.0 (Acrobat.exe) is being contacted
from a remote machine [206.13.28.12]
using local port 1660 (SKIP-MC-GIKREQ - skip-mc-gikreq).
Do you want to allow this program to access the network?
A reverse DNS of 206.13.28.12 simply says
206.13.28.12 PTR record: dns1.snfcca.sbcglobal.net. [TTL 7200s]
[A=206.13.28.12]
What is this "SKIP-MC-GIKREQ" gobbledegook?
Is it dangerous?

Try :
http://www.auditmypc.com/port/udp-port-1660.asp
for more information. Note also that Sun's SunRay administration tool
uses this port.
From your description it seems like Acrobat has opened port 1660 and is
listening to it. 206.13.28.12 is sending UDP packets to that port. This
is all perfectly normal, applications can send a UDP packet and any
recipient computer can use information in the packet to decide whether
they want to reply or not. This may be how Acrobat does its updates
(though I doubt it).
I haven't heard of nay exploits using port 1660, which doesn't mean
there aren't any. If in doubt, always deny access.
