#### Data tool - long database in column mode?

Hello,
I have long db with many records. When I want to use datatool package,
records doesnt fit on one page but rest of them are lost (they try to be
written outside page). So the question is:
1. Is there any possibility to somehow add \newpage after certain amount
of iterations or
2. is there possible to list db content in two column mode on page
(first records fills one column and then second).

best regards

I have never actually used datatool, but the documentation says that
\DTLdisplaydb
assembles the data into a tabular environment (no pagebreaks allowed),
while
\DTdisplaylongdb
uses a longtable environment (page breaks automatically produced when
needed).

Would that do what you need?

Longtable center content on the page, I cannot make it to work with
minipage or column. I rather iterated through databse using \DTLforeach.

unless you tell it not to, using \LTleft and \LTright

> I cannot make it to work with minipage

hardly surprising -- minipage doesn't "do" things longer than a page.
why would you _want_ a longtable in a minipage?

> or column.

do you mean multicol? i agree that's a bit sad: it's because both
multicol and longtable have to hook into the output route, and they
don't co-operate.

i don't understand that. you typeset each row of the database
separately?  with no alignment?

I have several record in database but need to typeset only those related
to some condition e.g

\DTLforeach[\DTLiseq{\type}{affiliation}]{baza}{\type=type bla bla bla}
{
here is tabular environment or multicol

}

You can put \DTLforeach inside a longtable environment. The examples in
section 5.4 of the datatool manual can be adapted to use longtable

But will that work in column mode?
Something like sciposter package where content fills first column, then
second etc when needed.

It should work with standard twocolumn mode, although I haven't tried it.

If sciposter changes the output routine, it may cause a problem with
longtable. In which case try using supertabular instead.

With PHP and the latest driver (2.1.0) all string values are assumed to be using a UTF-8 encoding and are converted to UTF-16 when dealing with N(VAR)CHAR columns. For this to work the following settings need to be enabled (they are by default): ingres.utf8 ingres.describe "ingres.utf8" enables the automatic conversion to UTF-16 before passing to the server. "ingres.describe" uses the "DESCRIBE INPUT" support in Ingres to determine what the types are for parameters in a column.
