elsarticle

I just downloaded the files for the class elsarticle, and am having a
couple of small problems with it. E.g. the \begin{lineno} does not
start line numbers; and the front page appears twice, once with only
the title, and again "properly" as for the start of the article. This
last might be deliberate. Anyone here have experience with this?

I have asked the support people at Elsevier but so far am having a
hard time getting them to understand the problem. This ng might be
quicker.

in that case any MWE would be nice

why did you need to download any files? elsarticle is already a part of
TeXLive 2010?

what's an MWE? I didn't know elsarticle might be built into a new
LaTeX, but probably not into my oldish Suse 10.2 at work.

MWE = Minimum Working Example

A document that
  1. Exhibits the problem(s) under discussion. (That's the
     "example" part.)
  2. Can be compiled directly: starts with \documentclass
ends with \end{document}. (That's the "working" part.)
  3. Is as small as feasible. (That's the "minimum" part).

Virtually all queries on c.t.t about specific documents
and their problems should be accompanied by one.
