fixed pdf problem now I have a Yap problem

• Email
• Follow

I am trying to use marvosym symbols and originally had some problem
compiling my doc in latexpdf. That has been fixed thanks to some
comp.text.tex help. For awhile LaTeXing and viewing in Yap worked
too. Now pdf works, LaTeX appears to compile, but Yap can't find umvs
file.

Example:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{marvosym}
\begin{document}
\Email
\Mobilefone
\end{document}

Note: umvs.fd is in directory indicated in log file but Yap says:

1. MiTex Problem Report: Not all fonts could be loaded.
2) when I look in doc properties it indicates umvs not loadable.
When I double click on that it indicates "Attempted an unsupported
operation."

Any suggestions?  Thanks, ds

Well when using the dvips render method YAP calls dvips to generate
a ps and then use mgs (miktex ghostscript) to view the view. dvips
like pdftex use a map-file to find the type1 fonts. This map files
(including the one for dvipdfmx) are all generated together. So if
the pdftex map is wrong, all the other are wrong too.

Try what happens if you call on at the command prompt
updmap --verbose

With a bit chance it will regenerate your local maps but now with
the correct entries. If not this command will at least give you a
list of all the maps generated by updmap. It will also give you a
list of the configuration files (updmap.cfg) used by updmap. You
could compare it with the list from updmap --admin --verbose.

(I don't have a multiuser installation of miktex, so I can't test
where updmap and updmap --admin put the generated files and which
updmap the package manager and the on-the-fly installation use.)

fix problem with pdf
Hi, Can anyone explain to me, why I can't print this pdf-document? http://pw1.netcom.com/~tjensen/ptr/pointers.pdf I've tried several things, all failed. I think the pdf is broken somehow and I have never tried this before. Could be there is a general solution and/or a latex solution for that, perhaps? problems with fonts, now problems with tab-completion
Hello, I am running MATLAB R13 on a Windows XP computer. I did some updates to my video drivers and some "windows update" updates, and when I opened MATLAB all of the fonts on the desktop were totally garbled and pretty much unreadable. I found the following article from this newsgroup: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=garbled+font+group:comp.soft-sys.matlab&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=comp.soft-sys.matlab&selm=lsqrltc6o5fs%40legacy&rnum=2 And followed the instructions. Now the fonts are fine, but Tab-completion doesn't work anymore (one t...

PDF problem
I have recently been writing some magazine articles for some consumer magazines and have sent these in the form of PDF files. The originals are TechWriter documents, with DrawFiles as illustrations. I use a level 2 PS colour printer driver to save PS files. Then use !RiScript to convert these into PDF files. The files look fine when viewed with Acrobat, and the people I've submitted them to are happy with the results, and are publishing what I have written. The snag is that they wish to export the illustrations from what I have written so they can modify them and place them on the magaz...
