highlight text in pdf with review

Hi there,

quick question.
I'm looking for a way to set pdf remarks with pdflatex.
The idea: With Adobe you can mark text in a pdf file for review. The
highlighted text is then showed in the
review tracker toolbar.

Is there a way to generate similar stuff with latex. I'm aware of the
soul package to highlight text.
Works great, but does not add the pdfremark.

Thanks
  Peter

As I understand it, there are non-technical issues with making *real*
PDF remarks unless you are using Acrobat. There are some "look like"
solutions, I think, but no way to make actual comments.

You may want to take a look at:

\pdfmarkupcomment seems to be what you are searching

How to highlight all the Text for a Text field when getting focus by a mouse click?
I followed the direction in the HELP and tried several other things. But can not get it to work properly. 1. From the Window Formatter, RIGHT-CLICK the control and choose Alert from the popup menu. 2. From the Alert Keys dialog, press the Add button. 3. From the Input Key dialog, CLICK on Left Button in the Mouse group. 4. Press OK twice to return to the Window Formatter. 5. From the Window Formatter, RIGHT-CLICK the control and choose Embeds from the popup menu. 6. Add the following code to the EVENT:AlertKey embed point for the control: IF KEYCODE() = MouseLeft SELECT(?,LEN(?{PROP:ScreenText})) ?{PROP:SelStart} = 1 ?{PROP:SelEnd} = LEN(?{PROP:ScreenText}) END The problem I'm am having is after a user selects the field with a LEFT MOUSE (it hightlights the entire field proplerly), but then they can not change what is highlighted with the LEFT MOUSE (maybe they want to change it to only hightlight the 1st couple of characters). I'm trying to make this field work like the Address field in MS Internet Explorer. So when a person select the field with the mouse it is highlighted and then subesequently they can change what is hightlighted by using the Left Mouse. It almost works in clarion <g>. Does anyone know of a way around to get this to work? I've tried everything I can think of an can not get it to work properly. pdf to text
I am looking for a way to convert PDF files into text content. I don't care about layout or formatting, just the plain text that I can use to search against in a database. I've look into the pdftotext tool from: http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/download.html However, when I use it via the command line, it works fine. If I issue the same command via a system() call, there are major problems that cause the server to crash. (Don't know why, there aren't any error messages been generated anywhere.) I am looking to use this when a PDF file is uploaded via a form and store the text in a database for a search function. TIA -- Justin Justin Koivisto wrote: > > I am looking for a way to convert PDF files into text content. I vaguely remember using Ghostscript for that... Cheers, NC I have not used pdftotext via system(). However you could try different versions of pdftotext. In my experience the version you use can have quite different effects. Different versions should be easily available. It's also possible to use ascii2txt, which depends on Ghostscript I think. When I tried it I got into a muddle of versions though, and pdftotext was much easier. Justin Koivisto <justin@koivi.com> wrote: > I am looking for a way to convert PDF files into text content. raw text, source text?
I have two people who write me using Gmail and the format of the emails I get is bad. It has capital 's all over the place. I can't tell the pattern. At the end of most llines and other places. It can't send an apostrophe correctly. Instead it looks like tm And something it sends looks like · , Maybe this is just more A's but what it looks like in my email is some Germanic R with a big dot next and 6 tiny 's that look like the surf coming in. Once a month ago the email from one sender came in looking good, but he told me it was nothing he did and nothing he had control over. And the next time he wrote, it looked as bad as ever. Ralph in the Agent ng said that I'm getting the raw text and I should turn that off. AIUI, the raw text is always off in Eudora. I"m using version 7.1.0.9, the last or next to last version of the original Eudora. In fact there have been times over the last 20 years that I wanted to see the source text, but I couldnt' figure out how. So, how do I turn on the raw text? How do I turn off the raw text in the case of these two Gmail senders. Thanks. Overloading || ( text, text ) operator
Hi, I was trying to overload concat operator ||(text, text) such a way that it behaves like Oracle. i.e. I want 'abc' || null to return 'abc' instead of null. I know that it is not the expected behaviour in postgres, but since I am migrating the database from oracle to postgres , I need this behaviour. But when I try to drop the existing || operator, I get the following error ERROR: cannot drop operator ||(text, text) because it is required by the database system Also I cannot modify the application which runs over the database. Hence I cannot overload || (varchar, varchar) and use it. Is there any way of overloading the || operator , such that it behaves like Oracle? I know how to do this OK, but are there any tips or tricks for writing out / handling / storing long text strings within the code? Thanks KK Start a resource file for the project. Tk text search and elided text
All, I'm having trouble understanding the following text widget behavior. I'm using Tcl/Tk 8.4.9. I've got a text widget with some elided text. A search returns the position L.C (properly), but a subsequent search starting at L.C for the same string fails to return L.C. However, a search with the option -elide does return L.C. The elided text is at the beginning of the line, a good 60 characters before the text in question. Here's the example: # -------------------------------- end toplevel .bfw pack [set t [text .bfw.t]] -expand 1 -fill both set elidetext "to elide" $t tag configure toelide -elide 1 $t insert end "random\n" $t insert end ${elidetext} toelide "something here missing instantiation\n" $t insert end ${elidetext} toelide "other text missing instantiation\n" puts [set res [$t search inst 1.0]] # prints 2.62 - proper starting point for 'inst' puts [$t search inst $res] # prints 3.57 - second occurrence of 'inst' puts [$t search -elide inst $res] # prints 2.62 - first occurrence of 'inst' # -------------------------------- end Am I doing something wrong? Adding text to a text box that shows on the bottom
Hello If i add text to a textbox (like text1.text=text1.text & vbcrlf & vbcrlf "newtekst") this text is added to the bottom of the text (multiline is on). When the text has more lines than fit into the box the text is added below 'outside the box.' and the vertical scrollbar (ofcourse enabled) scrolls always to the top. So you can not see what text is last added (unless you scroll of course manual to the bottom but than also the programs pauzes and as soon as text is added you are again in the top of the box). Is there a way with the standard VB6 textbox to have the vertical scrollbar 'pointing' always to the 'bottom' of the box so you get always the last added line of text in the box? Highlight a text in a JComboBox
I have an editable JComboBox that I initialize using distinct values from a database. I pre-select, in this JComboBox, the last value that was entered into the database. This all works fine. The client tabs through the fields on the form until this JComboBox is reached. My problem is that I would like the text in this JComboBox to be highlighted when it gets the focus. Can someone show me how to do this, or point me to tutorial that does this? Thank you... Have you tried combo.getEditor().selectAll()? This appears to be the default in Mac's Aqua L&F; but if need be, you can always extend BasicComboBoxEditor. -- John B.
