Pantone colors with pdflatex and xcolor?

Is this even possible?

The printing house, who is going to print a book I've helped typeset,
can apparently only handle Pantone colors. At the moment I'm using rgb

So what are my options in this case?

You should probably be using CMYK definitions if you are setting for
print. Pantone provides CMYK settings for its colours, but you have to
buy the swatch (expensive).

There is also this one for named colors :

Yes ? And this one is nice too:

http://www.spudart.org/blogs/randomthoughts_comments/3523_0_3_0_C/

since it defines some named colors (easier to memorize/use/read in the
source) However I didn't test them and i'm not sure of the result in a
pdf. But it could be a starting point to add a "pantone" option to
xcolor... may be underground (i heard Pantone colors to be "protected",
even if such "protection" sounds not legal in Europe...)

From the palette, would it be possible to set up a function that give
the correspondance between cmyk and PMS (Pantone Matching System) ?

Not so easy at first glance...

However, it could be quite easy to extract the CMYK values from the HTML
file in order to provide a PMS option for xcolor in about one hour for
a waked guy ;-)

i don't believe such a thing exists; pantone predates the days when
things were done digitally, i suspect (and see my comment about tuning).

but again, it's necessarily a single-destination table.

I can work around the scheduling, I hope, and get my publication out two weeks early. But how do I get full value out of three colors? I can go with pantone colors...but which ones? Anyone know of research into a three color process? If I go with process colors MYK then I can tritone my graphics to look sepia toned...that would be nice. Photoshop has some tritone combinations with pantone colors that might work...but then the edit graphics feature of InDesign...

color mapping
Hi, Is there a way to index into a colormap based on the position of each pixel in an image? That is, can I display an image with specific pixels set to some color, independently of and without changing the actual value of those pixels? Thank you for your time and help, Patrick Patrick wrote: > > > Hi, > Is there a way to index into a colormap based on the position of > each > pixel in an image? Making the background Color Transparent.
Hi there, I want to make & save an image with certain countours and a transparent background. I have created the contours and they appear on a white background, but am having a tough time figuring out how to make the background of the saved/printed image transparent. figure [c,h]=contour(Xinterp,Yinterp,Zinterp,25); set(h,'LineWidth',2) set(gcf, 'color', 'none'); set(gca, 'color', 'none'); set(gcf, 'InvertHardCopy', 'off'); colormap(winter) xlabel X; ylabel Y; zlabel Z; print -dpng out.png The above seems to just make the save...

Computing color histograms
Hi, I have done extensive research and googling on this topic but still unclear about how to best represent a histogram in code. I want to make this clear, yes this is for a university image retrieval project, and no, I don't expect someone to just hand me copy and paste code without me understanding how it works. With that in mind, I am very confused about to go about this. I know in Matlab you can only use the built in 'hist' on one channel at a time. I know you can specify various bin sizes, and the recommended ones for RGB are 8x8x8, and HSV being 18x3x3. What I'm fi...

newbie q: Understanding scan lines, colors, bpp of image formats
Hello, I would like to understand graphics, scan lines, conversion of particular image formats( not programs that I can buy that will do the conversion for me ), color, 8bpp vs 24bpp, etc a little better. Can anyone suggest a book or online tutorial. thanks. <lakepeir@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1169154844.118663.283090@s34g2000cwa.googlegroups.com... > Hello, > > I would like to understand graphics, scan lines, conversion of > particular image formats( not programs that I can buy that will do the > conversion for me ), color, 8bpp vs 24bpp, etc a little better....

Hi, I'm looking for Secondary Capture Image RGB. Anyone can help me?? Thx steph.tro@voila.fr wrote: > Hi, > I'm looking for Secondary Capture Image RGB. > Anyone can help me?? > Thx Hello, a compressed SC RGB image is available under http://www.MHGSoft.de/dicom/sample/logo.ima. An uncompressed sample is http://www.MHGSoft.de/dicom/sample/pdlogo.ima. Marianne Thanks for these samples Marianne. The JPEG baseline compressed file contains an invalid Photometric Interpretation ... it should not be RGB but rather YBR_FULL_422 since the color compon...
