problem with hyphenation in beamer

  • Follow

Dear TeXperts,
I know this is a bad habit but since my slides are used by the students
to study the sentences are quite long and the slide itself quite crowed.

To render my slides more readable I'm used to format the sentences as in
a book (i.e., all even on the right and hyphenating the words). I get
this behavior (in my own beamer style) by suppressing the raggedright
space with:

    \AtBeginDocument{%
      \renewcommand{\raggedright}{\leftskip=0pt \rightskip=0pt plus 0cm}
    }

in the beamertheme file and this worked very well up to now. In the last
few days I've installed the texlive 2010 distribution directly over the
internet and I'm using the beamer version shipped with texlive 2010
(beamerbaseoptions 2010/04/27 (rcs-revision 982469101dd6).

At the moment, all the second level sentences (i.e., those in \item
statement) behave as desired but the remaining sentences are ragged.

What has changed in beamer that stopped my trick to work? and How can I
revert back the desired behavior?

Thanks a lot for all the help you can provide me

Walter
