Why am I not getting a value?

(Please excuse the rookie question)

Why don't I get the value of "windows" in my file? My xml file is
located in http://www.otima.ca/XML/auto.xml and the xslt file is
http://www.otima.ca/XML/auto.xslt.

Much appreciate the assistance!

Your www server is sending your xslt resource with a mime type of
text/plain.

Reconfigure your server to send the correct mime type.

I have the same issue if I do this on my local HD. What do you

Thank you,

Can you explain in detail what you are trying and what fails?
If I load <http://www.otima.ca/XML/auto.xml> with IE 6 it seems it
applies the stylesheet.

Netscape 7.2 clearly displays
   "An XSLT stylesheet does not have an XML mimetype"

See the Mozilla XSLT FAQ
   <http://www.mozilla.org/projects/xslt/faq.html>
about the content type/MIME type issue.

If you cannot change the server settings for .xslt files then name the
style sheet something.xml, should make Mozilla happy and keep IE happy.

As for the XSLT stylesheet and its output I guess instead of
   <xsl:value-of select="/windows"/>
you want
   <xsl:value-of select="n:interior/n:windows"/>

Using XSLT 2.0 you can do that with regular expression matching as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="2.0"> <xsl:output method="xml" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes" /> <xsl:template match="/"> <results> <xsl:apply-templates /> </results> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="data"...

Retrieving XML path text values
Trying to write a function to get all values from a XML path without using a third party XPath libraries Using jdk1.4 and wondering if it supports XPaths? If so would prefer that as a solution instead of writing a recursive one myself Thanks An example of a start that I'am trying below public static String[] getValue(Document doc, String path) throws Exception { String[] nodeNames = path.split("[\\/]"); for (int i = 0 ; i < nodeNames.length ; i++) { String nodeName = nodeNames[i]; NodeList elements = doc.getElementsByTagName(nodeName); } } Abraham Khalil wrote: > Trying to write a function to get all values from a XML path without using a > third party XPath libraries > > Using jdk1.4 and wondering if it supports XPaths? > If so would prefer that as a solution instead of writing a recursive one myself Unfortunately there is no standard way to apply an XPath expression to an org.w3c.dom.Node. However, the implementation of javax.xml.* that ships with Sun's JDK is Xalan, which does include nice XPath support. So if you're using Sun's JDK, you can write code like import org.apache.xpath.XPathAPI; import org.w3c.dom.*; // find the first node matching an XPath expression in // the subtree starting at "node" Node getNode(Node node, String xpathExpr) throws Exception { return XPathAPI.selectSingleNode(node, xpathExpr); } // get the string value of an XPath expression String getNodeValue(N...

getting name and value of tag in an XML.
Hello I would like to know, is any easy way to getname of the XML tag and value of the XML tag inside a <xsl:foreach> loop. Thanks in advance Titus titusjava@yahoo.com wrote: > I would like to know, is any easy way to getname of the XML tag and > value of the XML tag inside a <xsl:foreach> loop. XSLT uses XPath so check out an XPath reference for functions and you will find functions like local-name() name() namespace-uri() to get the name or parts of it. As for the value in terms of XSLT <xsl:value-of select="." /> gives you what XSLT understands to be the value. Or specify exactly what you understand to be the "value of an XML tag", it is not clear what you are looking for. -- Martin Honnen http://JavaScript.FAQTs.com/ I am having an XML fragment like this <data-items> <element-name1>value 1</element-name1> <element-name2>value 2</element-name2> </data-items> My requirement is given below <forloop condition data-items/*> // some function to get element-name1 and its value( value1),...... dynamically </forloop> I tried the function which you mentioned, but i think it work well with node name not the element name. titusjava@yahoo.com wrote: > I am having an XML fragment like this > > <data-items> > <element-name1>value 1</element-name1> > <element-name2>value 2</element-name2> &g...
