Error says: 0403-059 There cannot be more than 9 levels of recursion

Hi all,
         I 've put a small script in /etc/profile and when trying to
login as it throws up the error that says

"0403-059 There cannot be more than 9 levels of recursion"

But when i try to login as somebody else , the session just hangs up.
what might be the reason?
Is there a work around / patch / kernel parameter that sets it to a
higher value?

More details:
My script is something like:
</script start>

#!/bin/sh
syb="a very large string"
echo $syb | grep $string
..  xyz.sh
..  hello.sh
..  lmn.sh

# Please note the "." before the execution of the other scripts. Aso
xyz.sh also executes
# some other script with a "."

</script end>

In the earlier post.
When i try to login as root , i get the error.
But when i login as somebody else (also a root equivalent) the session
hangs.

Thanks in advance for all the replies

Probably because your script is calling itself indirectly.

Scanning AIX error log for only previous 24 hours errors
Guys!! See , i am using errpt -s command with current date/time of system ( and this date/time is off course is the system time at which the script is run by cron).... problem is that how can i insert date value of 24 hours back ( from current system time ) with errpt -s .... as i want to scan for only those errors which arrive in last 24 hours only.... Does somebody help me for providing any way to scan for errors in last 24 hours only.. Thanks in advance Jones Why don;t use the "errnotify" ODM file for this. See the below link for more details. When is an error not an error?
The Java language specification claims in: 8.8.7.1 Explicit Constructor Invocations .... "If an anonymous class instance creation expression appears within an explicit constructor invocation statement, then the anonymous class may not refer to any of the enclosing instances of the class whose constructor is being invoked." Helpfully it gives an example: "For example: class Top { int x; class Dummy { Dummy(Object o) {} } class Inside extends Dummy { Inside() { super(new Object() { int r = x; }); // error } Inside(final int y) { super(new Object() { int r = y; }); // correct } } } " Notice the word 'error' in the comment. This example compiles without error and produces the correct code. In what sense is it an 'error'? It is not a compiler error, it is not a runtime error. To quote Douglas Adams "this must be some new meaning of the word 'error' with which I am unfamiliar". Any idea what's gone wrong? My experience is if they don't go away from properly formatted ipcs / ipcrm commands, it's because they're tied to processes which are hung waiting on kernel threads (and basically, defunct). In which case you need to kill the owning process (which is already dead, and which probably won't respond to a kill -9 since it's stuck in a kernel thread) or reboot the box. SAP is the worst offender in this regard IME. It's the only app I've ever known people have to constantly clear down shared memory / semaphores for when it doesn't shut down cleanly. -- Tony Evans Saving trees and wasting electrons since 1993 blog...
