Getting rid of my PowerServer 340

I am cleaning out my study, and one of the machines I've not used in
years is my IBM PowerServer 340 (32MHz). I'm loath to throw it
away, so if there is someone who wants to come and fetch it (or pay for
shipping - PayPal is OK) within a reasonable timeframe, I'd be happy to
give it away.

Off-topic but it might be interesting for collectors (which I have
ceased to be :(, I've also got an sgi Octane, a DEC PWS 500au, an
HP C160 and a Sun Ultra 60 that are looking for a new home. I'll hold
on to my venerable Cromemco C10 (Z80/CPM) even though the 5.25"
floppies have died and I lost the special stackable cable - it still
runs and can be used as a serial terminal :).

I'm located in one of the smallest countries of Europe - Luxembourg,
meaning shipping to the US could be expensive. Please contact me at
Stefaan dot Eeckels at ecc dot lu if you're interested.

Thanks and take care,

aix-get for AIX 4.3.3
I've visited http://sourceforge.net/projects/aix-get, but I haven't seen a version for AIX 4. Does anybody know a version of aix-get to AIX 4.3.3? Thank you in advance! from the sourceforge description "This program allows you automatically check for updates for AIX 5L packages and rpms and download and/or install them. It is a replacement for well-known `fixdist` in AIX4." So use fixdist. Or, download the v5 version and hack the perl code to make it 433 specific. Getting rid of the "Getting Started with Access" page
Anybody know how to prevent the annoying Access 2007 "Getting Started with Access" page from showing up when the database is closed using DoCmd.Quit? My database is used in a terminal server environment and I need to be able to prevent users from creating new databases or opening existing ones using that page. Thanks! On Mon, 30 Jun 2008 19:07:44 -0700 (PDT), evenlater <evancater@gmail.com> wrote: That page does not show up for me when I close my app using DoCmd.Quit. Rather the desktop appears which was previously covered by Access. You may mean at startup time. If so, just provide a shortcut to your application: access will load and immediately open your app, bypassing this page. Users would still be able to navigate back to it if they really wanted, but perhaps out of sight is out of mind. -Tom. >Anybody know how to prevent the annoying Access 2007 "Getting Started >with Access" page from showing up when the database is closed using >DoCmd.Quit? Are you using Access 2007? I am already using a shortcut to open the app (in fact, I have to because I'm using an mdw file) and I don't see that page until the user closes Access with DoCmd.Quit. However, when I use the X button in the upper right corner, the "getting started" page doesn&#...

Unix AIX
What is the best way to clear semaphores and shared memory, sometimes we run those ipcs and ipcrm commands but some of them do not go away and the server hangs, i would apprecaite a list of commands for unix aix, we are on version 6.1 Thanks!! My experience is if they don't go away from properly formatted ipcs / ipcrm commands, it's because they're tied to processes which are hung waiting on kernel threads (and basically, defunct). In which case you need to kill the owning process (which is already dead, and which probably won't respond to a kill -9 since it's stuck in a kernel thread) or reboot the box. SAP is the worst offender in this regard IME. It's the only app I've ever known people have to constantly clear down shared memory / semaphores for when it doesn't shut down cleanly. -- Tony Evans Saving trees and wasting electrons since 1993 blog...

Hello, if you are missing fixdist in AIX 5.1/5.2 try this perl script: http://tranq.dorms.spbu.ru/aix/aix-get This script allows you automatically check for updated AIX packages and rpms and download them.
