Oracle application server and AIX apache server

Dears,
One of my customer has just installed Oracle application server which
automatically install apache server for oracle on aix.
It is working fine......now the problem is that he also wants
documentation server to be functional.
Now i want to know whether i have to install AIX apache server ( from
AIX5.2 bonus pack CD or from net ) and then use smitty options to
configure internet and documentation search server or there is any way
to use apache server installed by application server running at some
port like 5790.
Also can two apache servers on the same machine work at different
ports???

Probably just create a link in htdocs in the Apache install
directory.

Yes. You just configure them (httpd.conf) to use different
ports. This may be the easiest solution, and avoids mixing
configurations.

Server to server = Server client to server?
For a server to server connection, is the connecting server considered as a client of the accepting server or is it not? I have the following classes: Connection <--- base class of the following two ClientConnection <--- client ServerConnection <--- server ServerClientConnection <--- server as a client of another server. Oracle Application Server Internal Server Error
Hello, We are using OAS 9.0.4.1 run on AIX 5.3 with an Oracle 10.1.0.2 DB back end running on a seperate partition of the machine. The main application is developed in house on forms6 and migrated to forms9 a couple of years ago when we moved to AIX. Since the move we get an "Internal Server Error", in the web browser, occuring randomly when users try to login to the application. Through some investigation it appears as though the OC4J_BI_Forms service becomes unresponsive for a short period of time causing the web server request to time out. Users who are logged into the system can still work but no new users can get in. Has anybody else experienced this problem? Anybody got any ideas where to start looking? We have a TAR logged with Oracle but as usual they've said that they won't help us until we go to 9.0.4.3. Which we haven't been able to do as the patching process keeps failing. Any help would be appreciated. gnscon@gmail.com wrote: > Hello, > > We are using OAS 9.0.4.1 run on AIX 5.3 with an Oracle 10.1.0.2 DB > back end running on a seperate partition of the machine. Opening files from one server to another (connect to Apache/Oracle server)
Hi, We have a web setup where we're using two servers, one of which is using an ASP application running a SQL Server database, the other is using Oracle with Apache. Basically, we want users to be able to open files such as Adobe Acrobat PDF documents (which are stored on the Oracle server) via clicking links in pages on the other (SQL) server. We have security set up that each site requires a user ID and password to access site content, so we need to figure out how we can make the sites communicate that when the file link is clicked, the file is opened. We currently get a 404 (Forbidden) message. I've been told that there are stored settings in some header section (not sure if this would be Apache or Oracle doing this) to handle the user ID and password security, so my guess is we need info as to how we can make the sites handshake with this protocol. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Brian ...

How to check Websphere Application Server status UP/DOWN in AIX
I have WAS v6 installed. I want to write a script which would just grep all the processes that needs to be present if the server is running If all processes are not pressent i wil restart the servrer. Now i Dont know what all processes needs to be monitored to ensure the WAS server is running. If ne 1 has done something like this please help...maybe a sample script will b more then useful.. Thanks Kshah You need to determine the process you are checking ps -ef > /tmp/ps.pre stop websphere ps -ef > /tmp/ps.post diff /tmp/ps.pre /tmp/ps.post from here, run a check for for each process for e in proc1 proc2 proc2 do ps -ef | grep $e if [ $? -ne 0 ] then <command to restart the service> else <echo $e found , all OK> fi very harsh and not something i would use to get a definitive answer of whether a service is available I would look at the snmp mib and use snmpget for the specific oid's that identify whether the application server is up and running hope this gives you some sort of start Steve ...

Oracle 8.1.7 and 9i on same AIX server
We have upgraded all our AIX servers to Oracle 9i. However there is 1 application that will not run on 9i and 8.1.7 is required. Our DBAs are running both versions of Oracle on the same 2 servers. We have 15 other servers that have been running with no issues and they are running only Oracle 9i. The 2 servers that are running both versions of Oracle periodicly lock-up and a reboot is required. IBM analized the dumps and found no memory issues. The symptoms are: Users can not telnet to server If already logged on at console you have a command line where you can enter commands but they all return the same error. "could not load program (command name) - dependent module libbsd.a(shr.o) could not be loaded system error:not enough space" Dump analysis shows no space issue related to paging or memory. We are getting ready to activate "Memory Overlap Detection System" and the "Net Malloc Police" on the AIX OS in an attempt to go into furture detail in our next dump analysis. Does anyone know of any known issues running both versions on the same server. chuck wrote: > We have upgraded all our AIX servers to Oracle 9i.
