Install problems with Oracle installer 2.2 for Oracle 9i Client 9.2.0.1.0Please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong forum - I am an
Oracle Newbie.
Here are my computer specs :
Windows 2003 - fully patch from Microsoft as of Sept 4th 2004
HP LP2000r
1 x 1,1 Gig Intel processor
1 GB RAM
Hardware RAID 1, 12 GB with 8 GB freespace
Clean install, no other programs.
At first I tried running the Oracle installer program from the CD ROM
and came up with the error that it could not find the javaw.exe
program. I then tried installing and reinstalling several versions of
java to no avail. Next I searched through groups.google and found the
solution:
1. Copy the Oracle CD to the hard drive. I copied it to a subfolder
directly to C:\Oracle9i
2. Change the file c:\oracle9i\install\ORAPARAM.INI to reflect the
actual name of the directories listed in the install directories of
the cd I just copied. I did this and next took out some "."s and put
the absolute path to the java program and something called the
"OUI_LOCATION".
JRE_LOCATION=C:/oracle9i/stage/Components/oracleswdjre/13110a/1/DataFiles/Expanded
OUI_LOCATION=C:/oracle9i/stage/Components/oracleswdoui/220120/1/DataFiles/Expanded
Okay so good so far. This time the installer actually started.
The problem occurs in the next few steps, when I click "next" (weiter
in German) from the welcome screen- please understand if I translate
something wrong here.
Then I am shown the installation directory screen, where I select the
default listed:

if time = 3 seconds, how do i set the values of the time steps 0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,3.0,5.0 to -9999 from time =3 secondsHi
I have 18 inputs (arrays) which contain certain statistics and if time = 3 seconds, set the values of time step 5.0 to -9999.0.
I was wondering if there is an efficient way to do this without using a lot of case statements?
Thank you.
Hello AdrianT,
it's not really clear to me what you want to do...
I suspect: you have an array containing values and you want to output
them with a fixed timing of 3 seconds: you should use a for loop
autoindexing trough your array and sending the value to your
indicator/output/whatever. Put a "wait for next multiple" into your for
loop.
Or do you want to have a minimum time delay of 3 seconds? Again use a
for loop, get the time value and use a InRange&Coerce with minimum
set to 3 seconds...
Or you should explain more precisely what you need...
Hi
Thanks for that.
Let me explain.
The time may vary. Let me give an example. if time = 2.1, I want to set the time step's 3.0 and 5.0's values to -9999.0.
if the time =0.1 seconds then I want to set 0.2,0.3, 0.5 etc values to -9999.0
etc ....................................................................
Can you please help?
Thank you.
Hello TUDS,
do you use different accounts/nicknames ?
Well, that's easy, at least for a sorted array:
Search for your time-value in the array (Threshold 1D array). Fill all
elements from that index till the end with your "error...

moving xlc 5.0.1 on aix 4.3 to aix 5.2?We are upgrading our B50 with AIX 4.3.3 to AIX 5.2
We currently use C for AIX xlc 5.0.1 on AIX 4.3.3.
I remember reading xlc 5.0.2 is required to be used for
AIX 5.2. Does this mean we have to purchase a new
compiler, or is there an upgrade available.
thank you

Upgrade from Oracle 9.2.0.1 to Oracle 9.2.0.3Hello All,
I am trying to upgrade oracle 9.2.0.1 to new patchset 9.2.0.3 or
9.2.0.4. Please recommend which is better 9.2.0.3 or 9.2.0.4?
Also I had a bad experience with my development server when applying
9.2.0.3 patchset. Is there anything you recommend before I start
again?
Thanks
Kumu
Hello Kumu,
What is the reason for upgrade? Any specific bugs or issues you
experience?
You can open TAR as well to get support recommendations for your
situation.
New patches can introduce new problems as you can see,

Go to metalink.oracle.com (registration and Oracle support CSI
required).
Click on Patches and Updates tab.
Wait for the whole screen to load.
Use one of the search functions to find your patch (note the Quick
Links if you are getting something common, like 9206 or 9207).
When you finally get to your patch download, click on the readme (the
piece-of-paper icon next to the download icon). Read all the
instructions. It's a good idea to read the instructions every time you
do it, even (or perhaps especially) when you are comfortable doing it.
The readme is usually also included with the patch.
Download and unzip the patch.
Look at what is there in the patch, perhaps there are additional
release notes.
Look around on metalink for addition...
RE: Kerberos 5 v1.5.1 on AIX 5.2 or AIX 5.3
Believe it or not; both solutions seem to work and compilation succeeds
!
#define GET_HOST_BY_NAME(NAME, HP, ERR, TMP) \
{ \
(HP) = (gethostbyname_r((NAME), &TMP.ent, &TMP.data) \
? 0 \

Worked and so did...

(HP) = (gethostbyname_r((NAME), &TMP.ent, &TMP.data) \

}
Thanks for the help ! I will continue testing with my current install
base on AIX. I really appreciate the rapid responses and solutions !

Oracle 8.1.7Hello All;
Our Oracle installation is being outsourced. Currently it is hosted
by AIX 4.3 o/s. When it is transferred to the outsourcer, it AIX 5.2
will be the hosting o/s. The Oracle installation will remain at
version 8.1.7.
I've heard that AIX 5.2 uses 64-bit addressing whereas AIX 4.3 uses
32-bit addressing. Does anyone know of any potential issues/problems
with such a migration?
Thanks!

KRB5 1.5 or 1.6 compiled on AIX 5.2/5.3 #2I have seen several emails from different people over the last few
months on trying to get KRB5 1.5 or later to compile on AIX 5.x. And no
responses that fix the problem. I have had the same problem and can
only presume that Kerberos is no longer supported on AIX. Is this the
case? No Kerberos on AIX? It just won't compile anymore with the

We no longer run AIX tests. Our donated AIX box was very old and
slow, and its disk was in the process of dieing.
If there's no one out there in the Kerberos development community who
cares enough about AIX to get the betas, test them and send bug fixes,
then yes, AIX support is going to be fairly bad.
Kerberos is an open-source product; if you want it to work better on

optimizer_features_enable difference between 9.2.0.1/9..2.0.3/9.2.0.6?Hi, All,
I noticed for this parameter optimizer_features_enable , oracle
document says:
Syntax
OPTIMIZER_FEATURES_ENABLE = {8.0.0 | 8.0.3 | 8.0.4 | 8.0.5 | 8.0.6 |
8.0.7 | 8.1.0 | 8.1.3 | 8.1.4 | 8.1.5 | 8.1.6 | 8.1.7 | 9.0.0 | 9.0.1 |
9.2.0}
I noticed when I keep it default to 9.2.0 in init.ora, in version
9.2.0.3 and 9.2.0.5 with exact same database and exact same init.ora,
oracle CBO did choose different plan.
So there is some difference between 9.2.0.X versioin for the CBO.
Where can we get such information about the difference?
Thanks

Usually such things are outlined either in the release notes or in the
new features documents. Documents that obviously no one reads.
