Update from 4.3.0 to 4.3.3?

I have AIX 4.3.0 installed and want to get the latest 4.3 updates
installed. I try to install all the updates from IBM's "fix support
delivery center" web site, but it complains that I have to be at 4.3.3.0
or later to install the fixes. Do I have to reinstall to go from 4.3.1
to 4.3.3, or is there a way to just apply updates to get to the latest
level? Where can I get 4.3.3?

bit late, but yes... 433 has a different kernel than that at 432, so
you have to update to 4330 from anything below 4320 then you can use
the 433 MLs to bring up to the latest level.

There was a ML that you can order from IBM (was never avail as a
download) and they would only supply it if you had a support contract.

But if you have the 433 media, then you are good to go.

Good Luck

At 4.3.3.11 installing bos.adt.include 4.3.3.0 wants 4.3.0.0 !
I posted this before but the replies were not helpful so here goes again... I currently have AIX 4.3.3 ML 11 installed with no bos.adt.include fileset present. I want to install Visual Age 4 but it requires bos.adt.include 4.1.0.0 I tried to install a current version, 4.3.3.81 (I think), but it requires 4.3.3.0. I extracted 4.3.3.0 from IBM's Web site but it depends on 4.3.0.0 (which is not available). Is there some way out of this never-ending quest? Thanks, Jeffrey. > I posted this before but the replies were not helpful so here goes again... ??? > I extracted 4.3.3.0 from ...

Will AIX 4330-11 ML update an AIX 4.3.1.0 installation to 4.3.3 ML 11?
Hi All, Would like to bring my 4.2.1 system to 4.3.3 prior to doing an alt_disk_install for 5L version 5.1. However, what I have is the 4.3.1 install CDs. Once I update/migrate to 4.3.1, will applying the AIX 4300-11 maintenance package update the system to the latest AIX 4.3.3 level? Thanks, Mark I don't know for sure, but almost certainly not. Problem updating PHP 4.3.0 DEV to PHP 4.3.3
Hi! I had Apache 2.0.47 and PHP 4.3.0 DEV running successfully on a W2k Server. For some reason, I couldn't get PHP to read XML-Attributes with the DOM XML -functions. So I thought, it would be time to update PHP to a newer version. So I simply replaces the old php-files with the new ones and of course kept the php.ini. But now, PHP doesn't work anymore. As soon as I request a page with php code, I get a "document contains no data" error after a while. (Apache's error log looks like the excerpt at the end of this message) If I install PHP5, I can't even start Apache...

Moving/Migrating /etc files from AIX 4.3.3 to AIX 5.3.0
We are migrating our administrative system from an F50 running AIX 4.3.3 to a p5-550 running AIX 5.3.0. When comparing the base 'passwd', 'group', etc., I've noticed that the AIX 5.3.0 base files for 'passwd', 'group', etc. files have ids which are assigned to different users than the ids on the 4.3.3 machine. What is the proper method to 'migrate' the 'passwd', 'group', etc. from 4.3.3 to 5.3.0? For example: Should I leave the ids alone on the 5.3 'passwd', 'group', etc, and somehow assign new ids to the conflicti...

AIX 4.3.3 , Oracle 7.3.4 coredumps at startup
I need to move an Oracle 7.3.4 database and application from an old AIX 4.2.1 J40 machine to a newer p660 box that is running 4.3.3 of AIX. I cannot port the database to Oracle 8 or later since the app progs are closed-source (was written in cobol), the vendor is not around anymore, and they used variable names imbedded in the sql of the apps that are now reserved words in Oracle 8 and later. I installed the Oracle 7.3.4 from cdrom onto the new machine, did a clone-style copy of the database filles over but the instant you run svrmgrl and try to do a "startup nomount" to get ready to...

It would be great if you could put this through its paces and let us know what problems you find so we can fix them ASAP. We plan to release the x.4.4 beta fairly soon (i.e., within a month), so your thorough testing will greatly improve its stability and portabilty! RE: [ace-users] Re: ACE 5.4.0 won't compile after GCC upgrade (3.3.3 -> 3.4.3) #2
Hi J.T., Right... The issue is a bit odd... Here's the check I added for ACE: dnl This check was added to work around a system-supplied header dnl (/usr/include/netinet/ip.h) that won't compile with Visual Age C++ dnl unless the _NO_BITFIELDS preprocessor macro is defined. The comments dnl there recommend use of _NO_BITFIELDS (and recode where needed to allow dnl that), but we won't just turn it on. Check to see if it's needed. Note dnl that this check is related to headers but done before we really know if dnl the header is present. Thus, if the bare compile fa...

gcc 3.3.1.0 build for AIX 4.3
We download the bullfreeware gcc 3.3.1.0 for AIX 4.3 and installed it. Unfortunately, when we try to run it, we get an error due to libintl.a not existing. I found a gettext binary for AIX 4.3. I copied the libintl.a from there into my /usr/local/lib, but now I'm getting the message that libintl.a does not contain shr.o! Help!! Is there someone that I can get a "good" libintl.a. Do I need a different install of the compiler?? Also, once I get it running, assuming I do static linking, will I need to have any runtime libraries on other AIX machines, or it will the created executables run standalone?
