can't install firefox-1.0.1 on FreeBSD 5.3

Hi !

I downloaded the package firefox-1.0.1.p_2.tgz
and when I try to install it on FreeBSD 5.3 I have this problem :
 pkg_add firefox-1.0.1.p_2.tgz
pkg_add: could not find package imake-4.4.0 !
pkg_add: could not find package XFree86-libraries-4.4.0_1 !
pkg_add: could not find package XFree86-fontEncodings-4.4.0 !
pkg_add: could not find package XFree86-fontScalable-4.4.0_1 !

I have already imake 6.7 installed so why this error ?
If somebody know how to install firefox-1.0.1.p_2.tgz, thank you very much
for giving the solution :-)

The package is made to depend on XFree86, and you have xorg
installed instead?

You could force the install:
pkg_add -f firefox-1.0.1.p_2.tgz
in case you have xorg installed, it might just work.
Or compile it from ports if you have enough disk space

Thank you for your response.

Yes I have X.org because it is the default X server in FreeBSD 5.3

concerning the ports, it is an old version (9.3) in the ports
collection and I want 1.0 that is why I tried to install a package instead.

PORTNAME=       firefox
PORTVERSION=    0.9.3
PORTREVISION=   1
CATEGORIES=     www
MASTER_SITES=   ${MASTER_SITE_MOZILLA}

apparently the package you used depends on XFree86 and not on xorg.

You should update the ports tree then (handbook should have
instructions on using cvsup). Or just try '-f' flag, might just work
for you, if not, you can always delete the package.

I did not do that, I just come ton install FreeBSD 5.3 from CD and I am
afraid to break the system by doing an upgrade because last time I did
that (with FreeBSD 4.x series) I had some conflicts with new and old
packages...but it is possible I did something wrong :-(

You're trying to install a 4.x package on 5.3..don't do this.
