installing NEDIT on Cygwin and unix in general

  • Follow

I have successfully intalled and am running CygWin, including Xfree86,
and I have downloaded and am trying to run nedit 5.3. I finally
discovered that the trick to getting past the "libICE not found"
message was to put /usr/X11R6/bin on my path. Not exactly intuitive or
documented anywhere...

(This is actually a followup to a thread from back in April, but
groups.google forces me to post it as a new thread.)

Well, it is pretty clear to put all your X applications (NEdit is
just one of them) into /usr/X11R6/bin.
