APIC/ACPI problem on Solaris 10
Hi All,
I have a strange problem on my laptop (Transtec 510, probably a
fujitsu-siemens base) when I want to use Solaris 10 01/06. When I try to
start X11, I freeze my system. Since I have more or less the same problem
with Linux, I suspect an ACPI/APIC problem (on Linux, I have to specify
noapic, noacpi at boot time to get X11 work).
It seems that Solaris 10 03/05 was more conservative with kernel
parameters since before the update of the system to Solaris 10 01/06, X11
was running correctly.
Does any one has an idea how to suppress ACPI/APIC usage with Solaris ?
Unfortunately the BIOS of machine is awful and offer absolutely no
possibility of tuning.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
best regards,
Alain Aubord

What type of graphics hardware does it have?
There are a few options you can try, the most important one is
acpi-user-options. 0x8 is the default in Solaris 10, you should
try "0x0" and "0x2" (in that order)
(-Bacpi-user-options=0xX on the multiboot command line)

The X server was also updated, and that may cause some issues also.

See above.
