Interrogate the usual suspects: Sun and Broadcom.

If neither one has such a driver there probably is none!

This should be the bge device on Solaris 10, according to bge(7D).

so does that mean the driver is in my sol 10 u7 i386 distrib and it
should have found the network card when i installed? or that i need
to get it?

Maybe. What is the output of "prtconf -pv"?

well, i think i fixed it, but i don't understand why.
i tried re-installing solaris with the computer plugged into the
network. still got attempting to configure
bge0......propeller.....skipping bge0.

but just because, i took the cable out and then put it back in just
after the skipping and the link messages started and it was getting
config files.

so i restarted installation, waited until after the bge0 attempt was
made and skipped then plugged the cable in and it worked.

why? this is so strange.

then i went along and told it dhcp. ok. then why does it need to
know the dns server? that info is served out by the dhcp server.
anyway, installed and rebooted. and ifconfig - a shows a bge0
interface.

any explanations would really help.

thanks
