can't launch dtlogin gui?

  • Follow

Hi All,

I'm running a solaris 10 on my ultra 5 system & did some ldapclient
configurations. After I reboot the machine, it goes straight to a
console login. I have tried to reboot several times to see if it allow
me to go back to the dtlogin gui where a user can either select cde or
gnome or console login. So far I've not been any lucks. Does anyone
know
what do I have to do to go back to the dtlogin gui? Any
helps/suggestions are really appreciated.

TIA,
-Chris

On Solaris 10 dtlogin is still started by the legacy script
/etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin
although under SMF control, its a pure SMF service in Nevada/S11

You can run and trace "/etc/rc2.d/S99login start" manually and
try to
determine why it fails.

# sh -x /etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin start

The usual first thing to look at on Solaris 10 when services are failing
is 'svcs -x' and then maybe 'svcs -v <service>' if something has failed.
