Oracle gave me a quote of $48.00 (that's forty eight dollars) for one
year of support for my dual CPU Ultra 60. There is a CSI number which
they give once you buy support. They were nice enough not to push out
the start date of the contract too much. You might have to request
them to have the contract start ASAP.
So I am assuming that's $48 with which I can download patches, access
sunsolve and the system handbook.
I'm considering this a nice Christmas present.

What, exactly, do you get for your $48 per year.
( ) Access to patches?
( ) Questions answered by phone?
( ) Questions answered by E-mail?
( ) Access to online documentation?
( ) Hardware repairs?
( ) Other? (Please describe!)

I'll be happy with access to patches....anything else is gravy.

Yes, as posted two lines up.

Lookup solsolve.
Nobody provides phone support for $48/yr. Unless of course, 45 minutes
per year is enough for you.

see above

Are you insane? what do you expect for $48/year?
You want them to come over and suck you dick too?

"Support" is a rather vague term. My questions were directed to finding
exactly what you were talking about. Thank you for defining more
clearly what you got for your $48.

I'm not a rich guy and $48 is big money for me, but I think Oracle is
more than reasonable for charging me only $48. I did not expect any
hardware support. I don't need phone s/.w support. I do need patches
and sun handbook.

Did they give a name to this support plan? If I could get something similar,
it would pretty much completely turn around my opinion of them and save a
number of my systems (Sun systems) from the recycler.

Service Level: Oracle Premier Support for Operating Systems
I essentially emailed them from this page:
http://www.oracle.com/us/support/systems/operating-systems/index.html
HOW TO PURCHASE
and in communications with them suggested that I did not want h/w
support

Well, now that you ask, it certainly would be a nice customer service.
