Customization Of Java Desktop
Hi,
We are about to start using Solaris 10 and the Java Desktop
environment.
We previously have been using openwindows and CDE.
My question is :-
Is there information available on how to customize the desktop
environment.
In openwindows we can setup, on the menus short cuts to lunch
applications or tools.
Can the same sort of options be carried out on the Java desktop ?
Thanks in advance.....

The Java desktop is a customized Gnome desktop.
Therfore you can do lots of configs using "gconf"
Found under
Applications> utilities> configuration_editor
on the java desktop menu.
There is also the new SUN Desktop Manager wich is WEBGUI based tool
that togeterher with an LDAP server kan manage a huge number of
Java Desktops on workstations or on SunRays.
There is some 40 pages of text on how to do this at the links below.
