ifconfig ce1 up: no answer

  • Follow

Hello,

Thanks for your time.

A ethernet link, called "ce1", has not the flag UP in the answer to
"ifconfig -a". Moreover, ping to own address fails.

"kstat" reports the link is up (link_up=1), and ifconfig gives valid
IP address, mask, ... . "netstat -i" reports packets incoming, but
none outgoing.

When a command "ifconfig ce1 up" is typed, the command doesn't says
nothing, nor finishes.

No messages in "var/adm/messages".

Please, any sugestion is welcome.

Thanks a lot.

Then you need to either bring it up manually (ifconfig ce1 up), and/or
fix the configuration for it in /etc/hostname.ce1

The link (ethernet) is up, but the IP configuration is not.

You mean it hangs forever?

What does 'truss ifconfig ce1 up' show as the last few lines?

Even without seeing the truss output, that sounds like a system
problem. The original poster needs to contact support.
