oidmon process failure - 10g Application Server

  • Follow

I'm running AS10g on SPARC running Solaris 9. The server went down
unexpectedly over the weekend and we can't get OID to come back up
properly. I've checked OIDMON.log and got the following:

2006/01/09:23:28:44 * [oidmon]: Unable to connect to database,
will retry again after 20 sec
2006/01/09:23:29:35 * Could not login to the database after 10 attempts
2006/01/09:23:29:35 * [gsdsiConnect] ORA-1034, ORA-01034: ORACLE not
available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory

and..

2006/01/11:15:59:27 * [oidmon]: Unable to connect to database,
will retry again after 20 sec
2006/01/11:15:59:47 * Connecting to database, connect string is
XXXXXXdb
2006/01/11:15:59:47 * [gsdsiConnect] ORA-12500, ORA-12500: TNS:listener
failed to start a dedicated server process

I've found many articles of people who've had this same issue, but
their fixes have not worked. Has anyone had to deal with this before?

Any help would be appreciated...

/Nick

Where is the TNS listener for this DBinstance (xxxxdb) located at ? Is
that running ? It looks like this OID service wants to talk to the DB,
may be you should begin with reviving the listener and the DB instance
that its refering to first.
