password recovery sun v440
First of all, i beg your pardon for my english.
i lost the root-password of my system SUN V 440.
I know there's a recovery procedure to permit to get again the password, but
i don't know how.
Can somebody help me?

You cant easily recover it - the only way would be a brute force approach.
But you can easily reset the password if you have console access. Boot
from a CD,
mkdir /tmp/foo
mount /dev/dsk/old_root_partition /tmp/foo
vi /tmp/foo/etc/shadow
clear the password and reboot.
Do a Google on it. There will be plenty of places with this information.

Dude try dis one man ....
may be it will work ....
if so then u hav a ball man
ok > boot cdrom -s
mount the root partittion on say a
Edit the passwd file, /a/etc/shadow (or perhaps in older versions,
/etc/passwd) and remove the encrypted password entry for root.
then reboot the server in single uwer mode as this will not hav a
password.
then from the prompt change the root password ,then you hav the server
in you hand bro.
