Question for old timers who remember VxVM 2.0

  • Follow

So I have an E220 that crapped out and I put the 2 mirrored root
drives drives into another E220.

Getting all sort of VX errors on boot since if I remember correctly,
Veritas cares about the burned in hostid.

vxlicrep reports all the installed licenses ok (partial output below):

   License Key                         = 28234751512984179301538426838
   Product Name = VERITAS Volume Manager
   License Type                        = PERMANENT

Features :=
   VxVM                                = Enabled

--------

BUT when I run
vxliccheck -vp
vrts:vxliccheck: INFO:  License 100 invalid
vrts:vxliccheck: INFO:  License 109 invalid
vrts:vxliccheck: INFO:  No valid licenses
--------

When I try to reinstall licenses, I get:

Error: Invalid hostid. Input license key not valid for this host

-------

Anything I can do or am I basically screwed?

Thanks
Ron

well, sure. swap the hostid roms.

or, change the "new" one, to be the old one, in software.
