So far I like raidctl and hardware RAID on the v245.
Is there a way to to find out the progress of syncing disks?
Is there a way to find out which disk is syncing to which disk?
If I'm half-way through syncing the disks and I reboot does it start
resyncing all over?
Thanks.

Probably! In order for the raid controller to KNOW that a RAID set is
in a consistent state, it must be dismounted while in a consistent
state. If you reboot while the RAID set is in an inconsistent state,
the raid controller must start all over again. It can take hours to
synch a couple of big disks; been there, done that. REALLY BIG disks
might take days!
If you need reliable access to this RAID set, an investment in a
suitable UPS and an emergency generator might be an excellent idea.
