Help creating a System Ace file
I have a 402 Virtex 4 board from Xilinx. I don't have one of the special
cables required to load it so I am trying to use the System Ace method and
adding my configuration as MyAce. I'll withhold my comments on why they
require a special cable but don't supply it with the board.
I seem to be able to generate a MyAce.ace file ok, but it is 1,674 KB long
and I get an error when I select it. I notice that all the other working
..ace files are 1,686 KB long, so I assume I am doing something wrong. Any
idea what or any recommendations? I wanted to order a cable kit but they ...=?windows-1252?Q?www=2Eelectronics=2Dmac=2Dsony=2Ecom_Apple_MacBook_MB063LL=2FA?= =?windows-1252?Q?_13=2E3=22_Notebook_PC_=282=2E16_GHz_Intel_Core_2_Duo_Processor=2C_1_GB?= =?windows-1252?Q?_RAM

...Data acquistion performance with Linux compared to Windows 2000
We have a data acquisition card that captures ADC data, stores the data
on an on-board FIFO and then uses the PCI interface to transfer the
data to the host PC. DMA transfers are used to transfer the data from
the on-board FIFO to the host PC. The data transfer rates are fairly
substantial. The on-board FIFO is fairly small (128kB). To prevent the
on-board FIFO from overflowing, we have implemented the following
Inside the device driver we have implemented a 4MB circular buffer that
continuosuly sucks data from the data acquisition card using DMA
transfers. When each DMA tr...Linux/Windows device drivers
I have a written a Linux driver to control a parallel port (bit bangs data
serially) and I want to port it to windows. The Linux device driver is
pretty simple, just a few ioctls and that's it. I have no experience with
windows driver development. Any help on any of the following, to get me
started, would be appreciated:
(1) I would like to find a simple skeleton driver that implements
ioctls - any recommended web sites, books etc?
(2) What tools do I need to compile the driver?
(3) What do I need to do to install it on a windows box?

I never realized what doctors had to endure, when it
comes to Electronic Medical Records. (EMR)
Little wonder that Medicare etc. is running the
country broke. Now that our politicians are
meddling trying to "fix it", this record-keeping
boondoggle will probably get even worse :(
Excuse my pessimism, but I have little confidence
in either politicians, or in the AMA
for that matter.
I was browsing the web, looking for EMR apps that
would work with my "MacSpeech Dictate Medical"
application that I have on order, which should
arrive in a few days. (I hope)

Can anyone tell me what the SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS in Windows XP is and does?
After about half an hour of working on my computer it slows down, and takes an
age to respond to anything. The hard disk light shows that it is active, and
it looks as though something is using it and not letting any other program get
a look in.
When that happens I usually switch it off at the wall plug and reboot.
Today I pressed Ctrl-Alt-Delete to see if I could find what was causing this,
and there wasn't a program running other than ones I had started, but there
