We have multiple positions for Unix Systems Engineers Responsible for operationally excellent management of Unix systems and SAN infrastructure required to keep client's web properties running in a 24x7x52 environment. Plans, installs, tests, and maintains systems and storage arrays. Required to contribute to the selection, design, and implementation of hardware, Operating Systems, and technical solutions to solve business problems. Includes maintaining and improving on strict technical standards as they relate to performance and availability. Ability to serve as a technical lead for project implementation, drive technical site escalations to conclusion and provide a leadership example to junior staff members. Solid, demonstrable problem solving ability. Minimum 8 years Unix Systems Administration experience; Two of those years should be at a senior /mentoring level. Solaris experience mandatory; expertise preferred. Prefer those with internet service experience, experience Managing/Tuning Database servers, and those who have experience in more than one Unix Variant. Advanced VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) experience required; and VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) or other High-availability service experience preferred. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex i/o issues in one of the worlds largest SAN environments. Hitachi/Brocade experience preferred. Individual must be able to articulate advanced technical topics (e.g. process scheduling, kernel internals, TCP/IP communications at all levels). Shell scripting (Bourne, Perl, Awk, Sed, etc.) prowess. Ability to work in high-pressured but highly structured, customer oriented environment. Education and/or Relevant Experience: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Willing to consider any Education level; preference given to higher Educational success, particularly in the Computing field. Education is not an acceptable substitute for proven track record in Unix endeavors, but can be used to demonstrate additional aptitude beyond the work experiences.

idl_idlbridge weirdness on unix systems
I encountered a strange problem today while working with IDL child processes instantiated using the IDL_IDLBridge class. Specifically, I want to be able to use a lot of subprocesses on a 4 CPU x 12-kernel server, so I tried using 48 IDL_IDLBridge objects to test the system. But no cigar. IDL hangs apparently at random. I narrowed down the problem to the following. The simple code below just instantiates an array of objects, and then tries to destroy them one by one. Dear ALL, I am workin on Fuzzy logic controller based active power filter where i have taken a plant model frm where load voltage is sensed and is maintained at a specified reference point using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC Tool box in SIMULINK) . Hi, Our files (mostly Rdb storage areas) are on an EVA8000. The LUNs are RAID-5 stripesets which are diced, sliced and reformed into virtual devices. Given that files are thus already fragmented by design, does extra fragmentation at the ODS-2 layer have any impact on performance? Choppy framerate on dual cpu system (under Windows)
Hi all! I beg your pardon if this has been asked before, but I was not able to find a similar topic in the knowledge base :( I have a very simple (ie mono-threaded) fullscreen OpenGL app. It works fine on many configurations, but on some dual cpu systems framerate becomes really "choppy", ie it continually changes between, say, 5fps and 200fps! Of course, the result is really bad (the animation is not very smooth, as you may imagine)... I dunno what could be the problem. I have constructed a simple receiver system that obtains the direction o arrival (two antennas) of a impinging signal. The receiver is a softwar defined radio receiver; I am using the AD6620 and AD6600 parts from Analo devices. This presents me with a problem.
