Hi,

is there any possibility, besides the break command on the
ALOM system console, to send the key sequence STOP-A via
a serial or network connection hosted by ALOM?

Any ideas or pointers?

Thanks,

Tom

The key sequence didn't work, but telnet can send break, too.

receive mail via 1 personality, send via another
I know Eudora has a way to do this, but can't remember how. (OE is actually better at it than Eudora!) My e-mail service requires that I use different login IDs for sending and receiving. I have two personalities set up for this purpose. The problem is that if I respond to an e-mail, Eudora tries to send via the incoming personality. How do I reply & forward using the sending personality without manually changing it? Thanks, Gary -- You can probably X figure out X which letters to X delete to derive my email address X. One distributor is re-sending transactions another stops sending altogether.
I'm running SQL Server 2000 SP2 transactional replication. Periodically replication fails due to primary key errors. On investigation I find that the offending transaction is attempting to insert a duplicate of a recently replicated row (identical data including the rowtimestamp, which is automatically generated in the publishing database). My conclusion is that the distributor is sending the same transaction twice. There is usually a large block of transactions that are duplicates. Replication has been removed and reinstalled with no change. Any suggestions on what might be causing ...

Can you "Send to" via a web email program? Can you have multiple "Send to" options?
I use both Lotus Notes and a Gmail account. In Windows, right-clicking on a file brings upa context box that allows you to send the file via an email program. Question 1) Is there any way to have the "Sent to" open my Gmail account and attach the file? Question 2) Is there any way to have multiple "Sent to" email programs available. Pegasus won't send email when my modem is connected via a LAN card but has no problem if via USB!
Hi, I wonder if anyone can shed some light on a problem that I believe is to do with Pegasus rather than my hardware. I am using a cable modem which till recently was connected via USB. I decided to change this to ethernet as I am going to add a router soon. The problem is that when I use the Lan card (onboard Nvidia) everything but my outgoing email works. Having searched high a low for a solution I have to admit I'm stumped by this problem. Using XPpro's net diagnostics Pop and Smtp passed without problems. Pegasus gives me the following everytime it attempts to send...

Sending via smtp
Hello Everyone, well, I have a problem regarding the use of smtp with Eudora (Versions 5.1 or 5.2). I do have a domain and can receive mails via pop3 using Eudore without problems. However, sending via smtp is not possible. It must have to do with the smtp-server and Eudora together since sending mails using Outlook works perfectly. After the sending failed the info is: "Can't send to 'name@domain.tld'. The server gives the reason: '554 <name@domain.tld>: Relay access denied'". Has anyone else had this problem kind of problem - and maybe kno...

How to stop double-send
Frequently, when we push the send button on a large-ish file (Powerpoint presentation for example), the operation pauses at 96% then generates an error message. However the send operation has in fact been completed and, if I quick enough to access the queued messages we can prevent the message being transmitted a second time. If not, the message is transmitted twice. As this only happens with larger messages, it is very embarassing and can clog a recipient's in-box. Can anyone on the group give advice on how to prevent this happening? Jim Campbell email address is (reverse)ati...

sending newsgroups via sendmail
At the very moment we have a big discussion in a linux mailing-list about implementing a feature like newsgroups with sendmail. We found may technical solutions, but I think that all these solutions are work-arounds. What we try to implement: 1) Sending one mail to more than one recipient 2) Each recipient should receive the mail without seeing the other recipients (like sending in BCC) 3) The recipient list should be easy manageable under linux systems (file aliases, database, ...) 4) The field (MailTO) should look like a private email (like a newsletter) 5) Sending internal fr...

Sending via shell script
Is there a way to use pine to send an email from a command line script? I would like to use it as a mailer for sending out CVS commit info via the CVS notify filter mechanism on my RedHat 9 Linux box. I can't figure out how to configure sendmail, even for something so simple as to be an SMTP client for outgoing mail only, but it was easy to get pine to work. I just can't see any way of stopping the interactive message composition screen. Ideas? Suggested alternatives for a command line mailer? Sending mail via Thunderbird
I had scripts that sent e-mail with content from various fields. Along comes a new staff member who wants to use Thunderbird (Mac) and the Send E-mail function doesn't work for her. I posted about this a while back and the suggested workaround was to replace Send E-mail with Open URL, making the URL a mailto: Worked on some of the scripts. Thunderbird (and every other mail client anyone is using around here) opens the e-mail, fills in To: From: Subject: just fine. But one of the scripts includes text for the body of the message (a rather complicated form people have to send), an...

Sending Data Via a Socket
I'm trying to establish a conversation between two different machines via a Unix socket, using the code below. It looks pretty clear that a socket is being formed, since the server waits for the client to start running, and they both announce the arrival of data just the right number of times. But the only things each machine reads from its buf- fer after doing a "recv()" is precisely what that machine previously wrote to that buffer. Isn't that buffer supposed to fill up with the data being sent across the socket? Am I somehow failing to send any data across the socket? ...

How to stop rembak sending mail...?
Hi, we are using lots (>5000) of remote printers defined in /etc/qconfig and all of them use "/usr/lib/lpd/rembak" as backend. If there is something wrong with the remote printer rembak tries to send a status report per mail to the user, and because there is no such an user account, thousands of mails per day are filling Postmaster's Inbox. Is there a possibility to stop rembak from sending mails? Or how can we get rid of all those mails without losing any important mail sent to Postmaster? Here is an example of the original rembak-Mail (It's in german): Nachricht ...

mysql_connect stops via php

I am a Linux client trying to connect to a mysql windows server via php, upon hitting the mysql_connect line in my php script, it simply stops executing. In other words anything or'ed with it, like echo does not end up in the html source. I'm not entirely sure on the inner workings of php scripting so I can't explain why echo commands before the mysql_connect don't show up either. However, they appear fine when the mysql_connect line is commented out. Is it a parsing issue? Command line mysql...
