19 inch monitor (model - gdm - 20d10), X will not come up, I don't know
where to
look or what to mess with in order to get X to come up.

Check /var/dt/Xerrors for more information.

Make sure that:
1. fbconfig is used to set screen resolution to something monitor
and card both support.
2. mouse and keyboard are both plugged in

I get a lot of errors, some about missing shared objects, another about
network is unreachable/unable to connect (given from xinit), fatal IO
errors and then a "terminated unexpectedly"
I installed solaris 8 and it worked fine, but I would like to try and
get sol 10 on there.

Are there plans to add additional video card support to x86 Solaris?
Based on the HCL on bigadmin, the video card pickings are rather
small :( I would love to use my Nvidia Ti4600 video card with x86 Solaris.

The move to Xorg in Solaris 10 does just that.

I don't think the HCL is anywhere near complete as to the range of video
cards that should work - certainly most Nvidia cards should be
supported. Unfortunately, I don't know of a complete list of all the
cards that Xorg supports now, though searching through the X.Org release
notes <http://www.x.org/X11R6.8.1/RELNOTES.txt> and the man pages for
each Xorg driver should help you find out about individual cards.
