Perhaps I am missing the instructions, but I have downloaded the 5 
partial files for a DVD from the download site and they extract to files 
with names of sol-9-u8-ga-x86-dvd-iso-a through "e".
Anyone know the proper way to put them back together to be able to burn 
the image to a DVD?

Yes, there's a readme file to download besides them that tells you? 

Basicly

	cat sol-9-u8-ga-x86-dvd-iso-* > sol-9-u8-ga-x86-dvd.iso
