Heres what I did :-
Init 0 machine.
boot cdrom.
Installation starts but asks me for host name etc and doesnt give me
upgrade option?
Any ideas?

System not upgradable?
Have you tried Live Upgrade?

Hmmm. At what point does it give me the upgrade option? Surely it
doesnt ask me to enter the hostname etc first and then give me the
option to upgrade? Or does it?
No, not tried live upgrade but I dont have a spare disk partition for
that.

It depends per version of the software; it is certainly possible that you
first need to give some information about the system before it
gives you the choice between "install/upgrade/install from flash"

Too bad. ZFS makes that a lot easier but that would first require an
upgrade to S10.
