Veritas replace disk help
I have never done a Veritas replacement disk. The disk that failed is
our boot drive that is mirrored. The system is running. I googled
around it seems vxdiskadm, options 4 (Remove a disk for replacement)
and then 5 (Replace a failed or removed disk) are the steps. I am
waiting for Sun to show up with the replacement drive.
After picking option 4 (have not tried waiting for the new disk).
What kinds of questions will it ask or require. I was reading in one
thread the Sun label may be missing?
# vxdisk list

Ok the drive arrived, I ran vxdiskadm, #4 and removed the drive.
Installed drive and waited for the green LED and var/adm/messages sees
the drive
vxdiskadm #5 does not see the new hard drive. I called Sun and they
had me issue the following command which then allowed #5 to see it:
vxdctl enable
DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS
c1t0d0s2 auto:sliced rootdisk rootdg online
c1t1d0s2 auto:sliced rootmirror rootdg online
c1t2d0s2 auto:cdsdisk internal01 internal online
c1t3d0s2 auto:cdsdisk internal02 internal online
c3t0d0s2 auto:cdsdisk external01 informix online
c3t0d1s2 auto:cdsdisk external02 informix online
c3t0d2s2 auto:cdsdisk external03 informix online
c3t0d3s2 auto:cdsdisk external04 informix online
c3t0d4s2 auto:cdsdisk external05 informix online
c3t0d5s2 auto:cdsdisk external06 informix online
This is the list after I ran #5. Is the another command that shows
the status of the rebuild?
Thanks
Gary

If the recovery is still in progress you can view the progress with
'vxtask list'.
View the status of the volumes in the disk group with 'vxprint -g
rootdg'
