We got an urgent warning notice from our security folks that the
terminal console device aka 4-port cyclade for our Solaris 10 server
is having the following violation :
Weak SNMP community "public" string
How can we resolve this issue ? We had killed the process "/sbin/
snmpd" at the cyclade already.
Thanks for your help,
Bill

ftp://ftp.avocent.com/public/product-upgrades/$ds1800/ACS/ACS%203.1.0/Cyclades%20ACS%20Installation.Administration.User%20Guide%20v3.1.0.pdf

Unfortunately, the doc doesn't apply. We have an older 4-port
cyclade, i.e.,
Cyclade-TS800. Any idea where we could get assistance on resolving
the weak SNMP community public string.
Thanks,
Bill

Do you mean besides avocent.com, the manufacturer of Cyclades
products? (as seen in the hostname portion of the url that
Doug McIntyre posted)

Acutally, it's the Cyclade company who manufactured our Cyclade TS-800
device.
This is before before Cyclade, the company which got bought out by
Avocent. So, the
answer is the original manufacturer of our device, Cyclade, the
company.
Thanks,
Bill

When Avocent bought Cyclades, they also bought all the support resources
and documentation for Cyclades' products. Doesn't matter if it was made
before the purchase. Avocent took over.
Here's what I got when I visited www.avocent.com, selected "Manuals and
Tech Bulletins" from the "Support" column at the bottom of the page,
and then selected the TS product manual from the little pull-down
menus:
http://pcs.mktg.avocent.com/@@content/manual/ts140%5Fmanual%2Epdf
The opening pages of that PDF say it's for several TS models, including
the TS-800. When I did a search for "community" in the PDF, I found
two or three places where the community string is configured.
I don't know how well that manual's steps work for your older TS-800,
but avocent.com does claim to be the place to get the info you want.
