What version of Solaris 10 Kernel am I running?

  • Follow

I have some confusion over the version of the Solaris Kernel I am
running. The base install is Solaris 10u4. Having conversations with
Sun they are stating that even though I have installed Solaris 10
update 4, after I apply patch clusters it is essentially the same as
upgrading to the latest update. I have included the output of /etc/
release and uname =96a.

The reason I am asking, is I am in the middle of a recovery using a
Solaris 10u7 CD and I need to re-install the bootblk, and not sure if
I need the same version as my ufsdump image.

Thanks!

You're running kernel update 139555-08.

You can ufsrestore and then run the restored version of
installboot(1M) if you're not sure of any incompatibilities.
