When new solaris 10 x86 be released?

  • Follow

Hi all,

Due to hardware compatibility problem, I am awaiting for the
latest version of Solaris 10 x86. Do anyone know when it'll
be released?

Thanks in advance.

There's a widely circulated leaked memo which suggests it will not be
to 2011. So I would not hold your breath.

Is there anything to make you believe the new version will fix your
issue? Perhaps it might be better to address the actual problem (i.e.
post some details), rather than hang around hoping a new release will
fix the issue.

Solaris 10 update 9 should be coming out soon, if that's what you
want. A month from now is my best guess.

Why would you say that when all that Oracle has announced is that
Solaris 11 will be released in 2011?

Talk to your local Oracle rep.

Gary's comments are likely correct in that the last time I was on the
Oracle campus the plan was to release another a Solaris 10 update, I
have no idea when, however, I will be on campus next week if I hear
anything that I can report here... I will.

Hi all,

I actually need the Solaris 10 update (not Solaris 11). So that
if I have the schedule from anywhere, I'll talk to my boss to
await for the latest release.

I heard a rumour a few months ago that the next update to Solaris 10 would
be labelled 09/10. Regardless of releasing Solaris 11 next year, we are
well overdue for an update, and an update 9 seems likely before S11 is
released.

I have been told by a semi-reliable :) source that the Update 9 for
Solaris 10 release will be in 9/10, so look for it to be released in
the middle of next month. We will see how reliable the information
is...

Now that Oracle is at the helm, I bet they postpone it and release on
9/11 (for symbolic reasons).

Looks like I was wrong in a previous post... Solaris 10 10/09 is out,
downloading it as I type this.

10/09 is update 8, released October last year.

I wish they'd use a 4 digit year. I always second guess the sequence
- is it YY/MM or MM/YY? Logically, the larger unit should be first,
but I think my brain is just not Y2K compliant.

Seconded. Either that or just say 10u8 (or 10u3 or whatever.) I have
a
little slip of paper listing releases and the numbers associated with
them
that I have to keep referring to.

Thanks.

Even though I try the latest solaris, the installation process
still halts. I now try on opensuse (opensuse cannot detect sata3 only).
