X4170 no console output, BIOS settings prob??

  • Follow

I have a sun X4170 located at a remote data centre with ttya connected
to a terminal server. The connection was previously used to manage a
Sun X2200.

I am in the process of installing the operating system.

I am unable to see console output when connecting to ttya, all i get
is a very brief splatter (BIOS messages) at boot when I reset, after
that it just goes blank with a cursor. I have tried to access BIOS by
using F2 and CTL E at boot, but no luck!!

my gut feeling is that the BIOS settings are incorrect. Is there
anyway to force the machine to boot into BIOS settings? any ideas on
how I can get in??

Is there a was of reseting redirection from ILOM??

thanks in advance

Can you connect to the ILOM through the network or can you only
connect through a terminal? Can you get to the ILOM CLI?
