Yes I believe there should be no problem if derived tables (TABLE(MULTISET)) is used since technically we are not creating/dropping an object inside a SP. I was forced to find other workarounds for the SP problem by using real tables as global temp tables with SESSIONID column to link it to the session. Much less elegant than this. However I am not sure how good the performance of derived tables. I will try to do a bench mark. How to get rid of Connecting to Server window
I used the Go menu in the Finder (10.4.8) to go to the public folder on a friend's iDisk. I then used the Eject command under the Finder's File menu to eject his hard disk/public folder icon; it disappeared from my desktop. But ever since then (which was days ago), I have had an open Connecting to Server window with spinning barberpole on my desktop which tells me that I am trying to connect to his public folder. I am unable to get rid of it and would appreciate knowing how to do so. Thanks. If it's happening during file-open or file-save-as operations, then I have seen it and have an explanation. Many applications record the most-recently-used folder, in order to make that the next-viewed folder when you launch the app next, or open another file in it. When this folder is on a network volume, it tries to r...

get rid of Windows servers entirely
In love with Linux Gigi Onag May 24 2004 "Our intention is to get rid of Windows servers entirely." Investing in Linux, while no longer novel, is still considered by many companies to be a maverick move. The reasons have less to do with Linux's perceived robutness than the risk of moving away from the safety-net of the Windows camp. But for IT public relations specialist the EBA Group, the insurance of Microsoft will be taking a back seat, in favor of the security and cost advantages that it has seen in Linux. The EBA Group is now on a journey that would lead to a full Linux m...

Re: Getting rid of the trailing blanks #2
Howdy All, Part of what comes into play is that you cannot make use of function calls in the PUT arguments. (and combined the two tasks into one operation) You certainly can pre-adjust strings with a wide variety of string handling functions and place the result into the same string variable or into another string variable, but then when you output that now-altered string variable with the PUT statement, any PUT statement modifiers will then possibly tweak the output such as the $20. format below, by padding the previously trimmed down efforts with more spaces again. So be aware of the combinations of PUT statement behavior and prior string manipulation. The machine will do what you ask it to, which could include desirable effects or undesirable effects.
