Networking with windows network
Hi, have two different machines connected to windows network. The OS/2
machines are essentially identical. I have installed fixpax 15, WR_8423,
WR_8425, and IP_8414. I have settings for ibmlan.ini and protocol.ini the
same on both machines. Both machines have a folder shared with the same
permissions. When I connect to machine1 via the windows network, I am
prompted to enter user name and password - which I do and all works fine.
When I connect to Machine2 I get no prompt for username and password and a
lt of times I get the blasted too many connections error.
Where else can I look to...Can you network 2 Windows computers with just TCP/IP?
I have 2 computers hooked up with a cross-over cable. I am just trying to
learn more about networking here. If I have NetBEUI installed on both computers
I am able to get them working together (one computer is an old 486 running
Windows 95 and the other is a Pentium 2 running Windows NT/Windows 98).
Although it is incredibly slow to get into the Windows 95 from my Windows NT
computer, why I don't know. But now I am wondering, can you network 2 windows
machines with just TCP/IP? I tried networking the other system on my Pentium
2 machine, Windows 98, to the Windows 95 machine. B...Looking for Windows Networking (TCP/IP) Engineers to work in India

In my older book by Kochan et al. several structs are mentioned that
are depricated. Can't we get by with sockadrr_in for example and addrinfo?
Of course when IPv6 is needed we use sockaddr_in6. There is another 2
structs I wonder about. sockaddr and sockaddr_storage. The last one being
large enough for IPv6 too. The info I want from new sockets is stored in
sockaddr_in right? Now I'm only dealing with IPv4. Should I declare a type
of struct sockaddr_in and let getnameinfo() fill it with data? Is this the
new way of doing it. I only have my Kochan book at hand and it se...[tao-users] ACE/TAO without network adapter and TCP/IP stack on windows 95 execution problem #2

I have a cable modem and an iBook running System 10.3.7. When I

The computers there are running Sytem 9.2.2 and they have a DSL
However, if I boot up my iBook in System 9.2.2, the connection runs
quicker. Is there some inherent problem in networking from System 10
to System 9? Or is there something else I am missing? Thanks.

Can anyone help me with the simplest step by step simple word instructions
to enable me to network my Acorn RISC PC running RISCOS 4.02 to a Windows XP
network. I want to transfer files between both machines. I would also like
to connect my Acorn thru this network to my Broadband Internet. On the RISC
PC I have SmbServer 0.07 installed but not set up along with LanMan98. Is it
possible to do all these things and can a rather slow person configure the
machines to work?

I have a situation that I've kluged the solution to, was wondering if there
is a more elegant way to do this....
If I have a resource (shared file) on a Win2K server that I access via UNC
name from a Win2K Pro system, and for some reason the server is temporarily
offline, any attempt to access the file causes the system running my program
to hang for some period of time until the read/write attempt times out.
To solve this, I first ICMP ping the server. If the server responds, I
assume it is available for file read/write operations. This works, but can

If I had 4 linux boxes, A thru D each with two ethernet adapters 1 & 2

D2 -> A1
Could I set up TCP/IP networking/routing such that any box can reach
any other? (Ie, Box A could telnet into Box C) If so, how do I?

We have 6 Server 2003 servers, several Linux servers, and about 100

What kind of hardware / software could we be using to troubleshoot network
