Right Mouse Button doesn't work in KDE applications #2

I have run into a problem with KDE 2.2. For the last week or so, the right
mouse button does not work in applications running under KDE. For
example, if I select a misspelled word in Star Office, and right click on
it, I do not get the drop down menu with the spelling corrections on it.
In Gnome Mines, the right click no longer makes a mine. In Konqueror, the
right click on a file no longer give the menu. Nothing happens. In all
the cases, it is like the click is not being detected. The system had
been working, and just stopped, for reasons I can't fatham.

If I start my Mandrake control center (I am running version 9.0) and bring
up the mouse hardware, it no longer detects the right click on the
checkout screen.

However, if I right click on a window title bar, I get the drop down
screen. If I right click on the desktop, I get the normal drop down menu.
If I switch from a a right handed to a left handed mouse, the right mouse
button works as expected for a left handed setting. The left button does
not. Since the right button always works in some conditions (including
under Windows), I know the mouse is OK. I can't think of anything I have
done to cause this problem. Any suggestions?

I am running Mandrake 9.0 with KDE 2.2. The machine is a dual boot
Windows 98 and Linux, AMD K6-II at 500 MHz with 512 Meg of memory, and
two 40 gig drives, one for Linux, one for Windows.

Thanx for any help

.... run "xev" and see if mouse clicks are equating to events

x windows usb mouse works, unplug, plug back in, then mouse doesn't work
Using FreeBSD 4.9 and Xf86 4.3, I have a usb mouse that works fine but, when I unplug the mouse and plug it back in, the mouse no longer operates. If I restart X, then the mouse works, again. Hello. I am able to use Mac OS X Panther X app to load: kmail konsole kate kde help center but can't load konqueror. [9fans] acme: 2-1chord on Edit in a 'win window' tag doesn't work
Hello everyone, might be I am doing something wrong, but this seems to me like a bug... In some acme window I have a command, e.g simply s/f/g/, I select it with a mouse and 2-1 chord it on the Edit command in a tag line of a window in which there is win running and also some text (for us e.g. abcdefgh) is selected. Nothing happens. Only when the s/f/g/ is copied in the tag line and the whole (together with the Edit) is 2-selected, the command is executed, i.e. abcdefgh -> abcdeggh. This only happens for a win window, ordinary text window is ok as well as a directory window. Thanks for ...

Fedora Core 2/Windows XP dual boot: selecting Linux doesn't work
I have used Linux for several years at University, but never had the need to do any installing etc. Now I try to set it up at home, and I've run into a problem. I have a new computer with Windows XP/Pro installed on it. As I would like to have Linux available as well, and as I still had my old 19 GB hard disk, I decided to install Fedora on the old disk, and make a dual boot system. Installing Fedora (FC2) worked fine, apart from a warning about the alignment of partitions. Removing all partitions on the disk solved that problem. Using BootPart, I created an image of the boot sector, placed it on my Windows C: volume, and added the appropriate line to boot.ini. Now when I restart the computer, I get a screen where I can choose between XP (default) and Linux. Booting XP gives no problem, but when I choose Linux, the screen goes black for a second, and then returns to the same "choose OS" screen. No matter how many times I try, even if I make Linux the default choice, I always return to that same screen, and the only way out is to boot XP. I also tried booting from the Fedora CD in rescue mode, and using dd to create a boot image (dd if=/dev/hdc1 of=linux.bin bs=512 count=1), but for some reason I can't mount my floppy drive or get access to the network, so I have no way to copy linux.bin to my Win drive... Any suggestions on how I can make Linux boot? Thanks in advance. -- Garmt de Vries. g.devries@phys.uu.nl wrote:...
