debug java code running in matlab jvm

does anyone know how to debug java code running in the matlab jvm?
e.g. by attaching a debugger to a running java or by starting java with
a magic switch that runs a java debugger service, e.g. JPDA?

i have written a lot of java code that runs within the matlab jvm and it
would be very helpful to be able to debug it in place, instead of
writing endless System.out.println output.

i searched matlab knowledge base and found nothing on this.

this is for matlab 7.1 running on windows XP, java environment is
netbeans 4.1.

thanks
